Are you ready to revolutionize the cement industry? Cemvision is looking for a forward-thinking metallurgist who will take on a key role in the development of our groundbreaking technology for slag valorization.

About the role

As a Process Engineer in metallurgy at Cemvision, you will play an important role in scaling up our innovative technology for slag valorization, from pilot phase to industrial production. As part of the Slag Beneficiation team, you contribute to process development – from optimizing chemical recipes and selecting reducing agents to equipment design and quality assurance of the final product.

Your work focuses on hands-on process optimization and development of smelting and reduction equipment through rigorous thermodynamic modeling and mass/energy balance calculations , as well as planning and implementation of industrial-scale test campaigns at pilot and demonstration facilities.. You act as a technical bridge between Cemvision, leading steel producers and our research partners to ensure the highest technical standards.

Your main tasks:

  • Actively contribute to the slag valorization process, including continuous optimization and performance monitoring.

  • Apply advanced thermodynamic process modeling and calculate mass and energy balances to guide process and equipment decisions.

  • Develop, specify, and design furnace equipment and systems for slag valorization at demo and industrial scale.

  • Plan and execute test campaigns at pilot and demo plants, including troubleshooting and scale-up activities.

  • Establish and document critical scale-up parameters for full-scale industrial implementation.

  • Act as a technical interface with steel producers, suppliers, and research institutions.

  • Practically participate in installation, commissioning, and continuous optimization of the melting process.

Your profile:

We are looking for someone who is driven by technical innovation and thrives in an environment where theory meets practical problem-solving. You have a strong and applied background in metallurgical process development, preferably from the steel industry, and understand the complex interfaces within a steel plant or similar industrial environment.

Requirements for the position:

  • Master of Science (MSc) in metallurgy, materials science or equivalent this is a hard requirement.

  • Deep, applied knowledge in thermodynamics and advanced process modeling, with a proven track record of using these skills in an industrial setting.

  • Relevant industrial experience from the process industry, with a clear focus on melting processes and furnace equipment development, preferably the steel industry, with a focus on melting processes and equipment development.

  • Documented experience in successfully developing and optimizing furnace equipment and systems within the metallurgical industry.

  • Documented experience leading or contributing to scale-up projects and troubleshooting in complex industrial environments.

  • Excellent ability to communicate complex technical solutions and collaborate with international partners.

  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious experience:

  • Experience from working in pilot or demo plants in a phase of transition towards full-scale industrial production - this is highly values

  • Hands-on experience with electric arc furnaces (EAF) or reduction furnaces.

  • Experience in working with TEA (Technical Economic Analysis) and preferably LCA (Life Cycle Assessment).

  • Knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

About Cemvision

The cement industry accounts for approximately 8% of the world's CO₂ emissions. Changing how cement is produced and used is therefore one of the greatest opportunities to reduce the climate impact of the global construction industry.

Cemvision is a Swedish climate-tech company developing next-generation cement solutions with an extremely low carbon footprint. With products under the Rement brand, including Rement Massive, the company offers cement that can reduce emissions by 75% in the first year of production and up to 95% a few years thereafter compared to traditional cement.
